It's been awhile since I've engaged in anything remotely-business like. In September 2018 we welcomed our second son, Jamison, into our family.
(He's the perfect addition to our little family.)
Let's just say I've been busy.
In October 2018 I started practicing the art of watercolor with some consistency and have really fallen in love with the medium. Not to mention it's a great opportunity for quiet time and it's very relaxing. Especially now that I'm getting better and actually beginning to like the end result.
As you may remember I opened The Workshop in November 2017 as private Maker Space where I have taught different types of classes, worked on projects and painted with friends, and even hosted a bookclub-type meeting. Why not? It's pretty.
One of the things I have enjoyed the most about The Workshop has been time learning and growing with my friends, seeing their unique ideas, that and laughter and learning are great medicine! The second is that it takes me out of my comfort zone and allows me growth in any particular topic. I'm a firm believer that you'll never know a subject as well as in preparing to teach on it.
Walking through my process, organizing my ideas into categories that make understanding easier, and the big one, explaining it all. I have found that sometimes I don't know why I do a particular step in my process or what category that step would fall under until I step back and look at the big picture. I'm very much a right brain person.
Well, this just about brings us up-to-date. The last few weeks I have been working on a few behind-the-scenes projects. The first is that I will begin teaching courses online, the first class is Portrait Photography- Trade Secrets and will launch in August 2019. (more on the launch later)
The second will be a new YouTube Channel specifically designed for Watercolor Tutorials. Last but not least is the blog, right here on my website. I plan to add tips and information on various topics with free downloads and links to helpful resources.
I'm still figuring out most of this so I'm thankful you've come along for the ride and are a very patient person, you're patient right? Ha! I'm not, sorry! I'm the dive-in and figure it out as I go type.
My goal in reviving the blog, and stepping up my Insta-game, the YouTube Channel, and the online courses is all to better serve you, gain engagement, and create a BRAND that people will begin to recognize as a reliable source for information.
When I want to learn something I jump, both feet, all-in, I get wet, and it's messy because there is a lot of trial and error, but I will figure it out. Why wouldn't I want to share this information with other people, "yes, this works great..." or "avoid the costly mistakes I made." Wouldn't you?
I have some amazing friends and family that have been this person for me and saved me from trouble, and often make the road a little smoother, a little more pleasant to travel on. It's pretty wonderful to be surrounded by people like this.
With that being said and a heart filled with gratitude I think is a great time to say goodnight.
